Grieco elected VP of Great Lakes District Council
Dayton Newspaper Guild President Lou Grieco has been elected vice president of the Great Lakes District Council, the first time a Dayton representative has ever served in any part of the organization of The Newspaper Guild, our international union.
The vote was taken at a GLDC meeting in Detroit on Sunday, Nov. 16. Lou will take the seat formerly held by Carol Ann Burke from the Buffalo Newspaper Guild.
As some of you may recall, the Dayton Newspaper Guild hosted the Fall 2006 meeting.
The Newspaper Guild is divided into six districts in the United States and two in Canada. The Great Lakes District includes Guild locals in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, plus the Buffalo, NY, and Pittsburgh and Erie, PA locals. These locals meet several times a year to discuss shared experiences, to receive updates from International officials and to participate in workshops and training exercises. The International often discusses new initiatives and projects at the district council level prior to implementation.
