Active membership exceeds 60 percent!
The guild hit a major milestone Friday when a copy editor who joined pushed active membership over 60 percent for the first time in at least a decade.
Just four years ago, active membership was down close to 30 percent. Then the Guild began the first of three membership drives that have gradually nudged our strength past 50 percent to a significant new majority.
Our goal is to push Guild strength to 75 percent during negotiations and we are very optimistic that figure can be achieved based on recent supportive comments from prospective active members, some of whom already are in the process of joining.
